How To Curve Text in Procreate – Best Way
Procreate doesn’t have a direct text-curving feature like some other graphic design software.
However, you can create curved text in Procreate by manually arranging and adjusting individual letters or using a separate app or tool to generate the curved text and then importing it into Procreate.
In this article, I’ll show you how to do it both ways. If you find this guide useful, make sure to check our extensive collection of Procreate tutorials and premium Procreate brushes to go next level!
Method 1: Manually Arrange Curved Text
First, let’s learn how to curve text in Procreate manually.
Step 1
Open your Procreate canvas.
Step 2
Create a new layer where you want the curved text to appear. This will keep it separate from your artwork.
Step 3
Select the “Text” tool from the toolbar, and a text box will appear on your canvas.
Step 4
Type the text you want to curve. Use a single word or phrase, as curving individual letters can be time-consuming.
Step 5
Adjust the font, size, and color as desired.
Step 6
Use the Transform tool (the arrow icon in the toolbar) to resize and rotate the text box to match the curve you want. You may need to use a reference shape to help guide your adjustments.
Step 7
To create a curved effect, you’ll need to manually adjust the position of each letter. Use the Eraser tool to erase parts of each letter and reshape them to match the curve. This process can be quite intricate and time-consuming.
Step 8
Continue adjusting each letter until you achieve the desired curved text effect.
Method 2: Create Curved Text in Another App
Step 1
Use a graphic design or typography app that allows you to create curved text. Adobe Illustrator or even a simple online tool like WordArt or Canva can work for this purpose.
Step 2
Create your curved text in the other app, adjusting the font, size, and curve to your liking.
Step 3
Export the curved text as an image file (PNG or JPEG).
Step 4
Import the curved text image into Procreate by opening your Procreate canvas, tapping the “+” button to add a new layer, and then selecting “Insert a photo.”
Step 5
Position and resize the curved text on your canvas as needed.
Step 6
You can further edit or blend the curved text with your artwork using Procreate’s layer blending modes and opacity settings.
Be aware that while these methods allow you to create curved text in Procreate, they may require more manual adjustments and precision compared to using specialized design software.
If Procreate introduces new features or updates in the future, it’s worth checking for any direct text-curving options within the app.
