How To Draw Easy Things On The Ipad

Hello, there! So you have been eying Procreate or even the iPad for a while now until you finally decided to get it! Yaay, so exciting!

9 Easy Procreate Drawing Ideas

Good for you! You have learned the basics. However, you now don’t know what exactly to draw or how to put those things you learned to use. Well, don’t worry we are here to help you out! In this post, we will show you some cute and easy Procreate drawing ideas!

9 Easy Procreate Drawing Ideas

You can also use these drawings to design your first-ever sticker sheet! So, let’s get started, shall we?

You will be learning how to draw each of the following:
  • French Toast.
  • Omlet.
  • Polaroid Camera.
  • Avocado.
  • Cup Of Coffee.
  • Ice Cream.
  • Cookies.
  • Milk Carton.
  • A Glass Of Orange Juice.

We are going to design some “Kawaii” sketchy drawings. We are going to use all pencil brushes for this since we are looking for designs that have a lot of texture and have a sketchy feel to them. So let’s get started, shall we?!

First, we would like to share with you a swatch palette that you can use to get the same colors that we use throughout this tutorial.

9 Easy Procreate Drawing Ideas

We will mainly be using three brushes from sets that we have and love! But don’t you worry! We will recommend brushes that have a similar texture on Procreate. The first one is the thin “Pencil Liner” from the “Texture & Textile” set. We like to use this one for outlines or in areas where we need a fine brush. It is thin and has a pencil-like texture. Here is a swatch for it using its “largest” setting.

The second brush that we will be using is the large “Pencil Liner” from the “Texture & Textile” set. Here’s a swatch of it using the largest setting. It is a similar brush to the first one. However, It is thicker for when we need to use it to color.

And for the third brush, we will be using the “Simple Soft Pencil” brush, from the “Texture And Grain” set and a swatch for its largest setting. We love this one for coloring as well and that we can control how much noise (texture) we would like o to add our drawings.

And if you don’t have any of these brushes or similar ones, that is totally fine! We suggest that you take a look at the “6B Pencil” brush in the “Sketching” brush set that comes with procreate. However this one is more of a thin liner brush, so it might take a bit more time to color with it. But it will still work just fine! Here’s a swatch of its largest setting.

9 Easy Procreate Drawing Ideas

Now let’s get to the fun drawing part! Or should we say coloring??.. Maybe both?! For this tutorial, we will use colors right from the beginning!

French Toast

We will start with a cute french toast ^_^. Use this shade of beige.

9 Easy Procreate Drawing Ideas

Start off by creating a square that looks like toast and then color it in. We used the large “Pencil Liner” for this one.

The next step is to use the thin “Pencil Liner” and this shade of brown to add the toasted edges.

9 Easy Procreate Drawing Ideas

Note that you will line the whole shape then add a little dimension to the top and side of the toast to make the design more interesting.

Next, we are going to add an egg to it. For the egg, we won’t use true white for two reasons. First, we don’t want the egg white to blend with the background! And second, we want to leave the true white for highlighting. To draw the egg white, we will draw an asymmetric flower-like shape, using this shade of grey.

9 Easy Procreate Drawing Ideas

Then create a new layer for the yolk. Draw a yellow circle.

9 Easy Procreate Drawing Ideas

Note that you are not pressing with your pencil trying to color in every single spot perfectly. However, totally the opposite! You are going to randomly use variations in hand pressure to lightly color in some parts and heavier pressure for full coverage coloring for other parts.

Next, we will go ahead and set the egg white layer to “Alpha Lock” so that we can shade the egg white using a light grey color, giving the illusion that the yolk is casting a shadow over it and therefore more dimension. Select the egg white layer, and swipe it to the right using two fingers.

9 Easy Procreate Drawing Ideas

Now it is alpha locked (you know that from the checkered pattern on the layer image), you can now color only on drawings that exist on the same layer, so we can shade the egg white without the shadow showing on the egg yolk, why isn’t it called the egg yellow anyway …. hmmm.

9 Easy Procreate Drawing Ideas

When you are done shading, remove the “Alpha Lock” using the same swipe gesture that we used.

Now let’s put that egg on the toast, shall we? Use the “lasso” selection tool and then circle the egg. Press the arrow to move the egg, then drag it on the toast.

Now it’s time to add a “Kawaii” smile and practice drawing one that we will be using for all the drawings that we are designing. Make sure the mouth lies between the eyes for it to look cute ^_^!

9 Easy Procreate Drawing Ideas

Now select the smile using the “Lasso” tool, then press “Copy & Paste”. Now it is copied and pasted to a new layer. Select that new layer using the arrow tool and drag it on the egg. The last step would be to merge the smile layer with the toast and egg layer by pinching them together.

9 Easy Procreate Drawing Ideas

Avocado

Now, let’s get started on the cute avocado! Use that green color that we put in our palette.

9 Easy Procreate Drawing Ideas

Now -on a new layer- draw an avocado shape which is a bit like a pear shape using the “Simple Soft Pencil” brush. We chose that brush since the avocado is buttery and we need less texture for it! Then fill the avocado in with color.

9 Easy Procreate Drawing Ideas

The next step will be to add the seed to a new layer to recreate the same egg white and yolk concept for shading. Draw the seed using the same brush used for the avocado body. using this shade of brown.

9 Easy Procreate Drawing Ideas

Now alpha locks the seed layer using the swipe gesture. Then start adding some dark brown shade around the outer part of the seed using the same brush.

9 Easy Procreate Drawing Ideas
9 Easy Procreate Drawing Ideas

Then using this shade of beige, with opacity lowered to about 50%, highlight the center of the seed by lightly brushing it in a circular motion.

9 Easy Procreate Drawing Ideas
9 Easy Procreate Drawing Ideas

Select the avocado layer then using the thin “Pencil Liner” and this dark green, start outlining the avocado.

9 Easy Procreate Drawing Ideas

Next, we are going to add some dimension to the avocado by making one side of it thicker, to make it look interesting!

9 Easy Procreate Drawing Ideas

Now, while we are on the avocado layer, we will add strokes of this light green to its center, then smudge it using the “Simple Soft Pencil” as a smudge brush.

9 Easy Procreate Drawing Ideas

Note that the seed layer is on top of the avocado layer, that is why the light green color won’t show on it.

Now add more dark green to the edges of the avocado, then again smudge it to replicate the color gradient found in real buttery avocados.

Then lastly all we need to do is copy and paste the smiley face just like we did with that cute french toast!

Polaroid Camera

For the third drawing, we decided to go with a pastel blue polaroid. Start with an elongated potato-like shape in this shade of blue.

9 Easy Procreate Drawing Ideas

Again we are not pressing on the pencil, we want a streaky look, not a perfect full coverage painted look!

9 Easy Procreate Drawing Ideas

On a new layer, add the rest of the polaroid body, then fill it in with color using the “Simple Soft Pencil” brush. The next step would be to shadow the camera. Set the camera’s body layer to “Alpha Lock” to shade only the body(excluding -of course, the potato-shaped part which is on another layer).

Then shade the body with the “simple soft pencil” brush in this dark grey with the “opacity” lowered to about 40%. Shade the edges of the camera’s body.

9 Easy Procreate Drawing Ideas
9 Easy Procreate Drawing Ideas

Now let’s shade the potato-shaped part by doing the same steps, set its layer to “Alpha Lock“, and shade it!

Now you can go ahead and merge the two camera layers by pinching them together.

9 Easy Procreate Drawing Ideas

Next, create a new layer, and start drawing the camera’s lens.

9 Easy Procreate Drawing Ideas

Start with a circle, then before lifting your pencil hold for about three seconds then press with one finger on the screen, to form a perfect circle for the lense.

9 Easy Procreate Drawing Ideas

The next step would be to extend two lines from the top and bottom of the circle and then join them with a curve.

We noticed that the lens is not really centered so we selected the arrow tool and moved it slightly to the right. Looks better, right?

On a new layer, repeat the same previous steps to replicate the structure found on a cameras’ lenses.

Now that we are done and everything is in the right place, merge all the camera layers together.

Then as a finishing touch add some details and buttons to the camera.

Next, we are going to add some white highlights to the lense to give it a metallic look. For that, we will be using a thin “Pencil Liner” brush. Add highlighter strokes around the center of the camera’s lens. Then use the smudge tool to blend them in a bit.

We will then add some shadow to the lense structure, then blend it using the smudge tool as well.

And for the last step for the camera we are going to select the smiley face, the “Copy & Paste” it. Drag the new pasted smiley face to the camera’s front. And we are all done!

Cup Of Coffee

For the next drawing, we are going for a warm cute coffee cup and saucer!

Start with an oval shape for the top of the cup. Again you can draw a perfect oval shape by drawing and the holding the pencil for about three seconds.

9 Easy Procreate Drawing Ideas
9 Easy Procreate Drawing Ideas

Now, let’s add the sides of the cup and the handle.

Now fill the cup in with colors, using the “Simple Soft Pencil“.

9 Easy Procreate Drawing Ideas

Use this dark wine red color for the inside of the cup,

9 Easy Procreate Drawing Ideas

then create a new layer for the coffee, just in case we mess up, LOL.

9 Easy Procreate Drawing Ideas

Use this shade of brown for the coffee. We really hate black coffee don’t judge, LOL.

9 Easy Procreate Drawing Ideas
9 Easy Procreate Drawing Ideas

Now merge the cup layer with the coffee layer, by pinching them together.

Set the layer to “Alpha Lock“.

9 Easy Procreate Drawing Ideas

With the same brush, same wine red color, opacity lowered to about 40% and maximum brush size, start shading the outer cup edges.

Add a new layer for the saucer.

9 Easy Procreate Drawing Ideas

Draw and hold an oval shape.

9 Easy Procreate Drawing Ideas

Bring it below the cup layer and add another new layer.

9 Easy Procreate Drawing Ideas

Add another oval just below the cup and color it in.

9 Easy Procreate Drawing Ideas

Color the wider oval. Now you pretty much don’t notice that you have two layers for the saucer and probably are wondering why we did it in the first place. Keep on reading we will tell you why 😉

Select the saucer’s wider layer, then set it to “Alpha Lock

Now start shading the outer part of the saucer, pressing harder on the outer sides and slightly on the inside.

Select the smaller oval layer and set it to alpha lock, then shade it just like we did with the bigger one. Also, shade the part just below the cup since the cup must be casting some shadow on the saucer.

9 Easy Procreate Drawing Ideas

Select the thin “Pencil Liner” brush or the “6B” one in white, and start adding some highlights to the cup and saucer. Remember to vary your hand pressure for a cool shiny effect and to add some dimension to it!

9 Easy Procreate Drawing Ideas

We added our kawaii smiley face just like we did before. And it is all ready!

9 Easy Procreate Drawing Ideas

Well not yet! We want to indicate that the coffee is hot. So we will need to add vapor coming out of the coffee. Choose the “Old Paint” brush in the “painting” Procreate a brush set as a smudge brush.

9 Easy Procreate Drawing Ideas

Then we started smudging the coffee towards the outside by dragging it upwards in a cool wavy manner.

Ice Cream

Next up, we are going to be drawing an ice cream! Using the “Simple soft pencil brush” and this shade of beige. Draw a triangular shape.

9 Easy Procreate Drawing Ideas
9 Easy Procreate Drawing Ideas

Make sure you make the lines on the sides straight by using this technique of drawing and holding.

9 Easy Procreate Drawing Ideas

Fill the shape in with color, then set the layer to “Alpha Lock“.

9 Easy Procreate Drawing Ideas

Using the same brush, this shade of brown and opacity level of 80% start shading the sides of the ice cream cone. Then add stripes to it using the thin “Pencil Liner“.

9 Easy Procreate Drawing Ideas
9 Easy Procreate Drawing Ideas

Then add lines perpendicular to the lines we created above, to replicate the waffly texture found on ice cream cones.

Create a new layer for the top part of the ice cream.

9 Easy Procreate Drawing Ideas

Again using the “Old Paint” brush that we love and appreciate. And this pink shade.

9 Easy Procreate Drawing Ideas

Start creating ice cream strokes in a fluffy shape. Note that this brush creates some kind of oil paint strokes. They are pretty much streaky which will allow the white to show through giving the illusion of a yummy strawberry vanilla ice cream look!

Then using this darker shade of pink add some random strokes.

9 Easy Procreate Drawing Ideas

A cute smiley face and we are all done!

9 Easy Procreate Drawing Ideas

Chocolate Chip Cookie

For the chocolate chip cookie! use this shade of beige draw an imperfect oval shape and fill it in.

9 Easy Procreate Drawing Ideas
9 Easy Procreate Drawing Ideas

On a new layer add another cookie behind the first. Make sure the new layer is below the first cookie’s layer.

9 Easy Procreate Drawing Ideas

Set the first cookie’s layer to “Alpha Lock”. With this shade of brown, the opacity lowered to about 30%. Start shading the edges of the cookie.

9 Easy Procreate Drawing Ideas
9 Easy Procreate Drawing Ideas

After shading the first cookie. Set the second cookie’s layer to “Alpha Lock” and start shading it as well. Then with this shade of dark brown start adding some asymmetrical triangular chocolate chips. Use this shade of brown for chocolate chips.

9 Easy Procreate Drawing Ideas

Then with this shade of brown add shading to the surface of the cookie to the sides of each chocolate chip. Slightly like a volcano, LOL.

9 Easy Procreate Drawing Ideas

All done! Add the cute smiley face to each of the cookies and that is it!

Milk Carton

Choose this shade of grey and start drawing the milk carton!

9 Easy Procreate Drawing Ideas

Fill it in and add outlines in this darker grey.

9 Easy Procreate Drawing Ideas

With this shade of blue, add stripes and the word “Milk”.

9 Easy Procreate Drawing Ideas

Using the dark grey start shading the milk carton. Add a smiley face and you are done!

And last but definitely not the least cute, is the orange juice! Start with a new layer and this shade of grey. Draw a glass.

9 Easy Procreate Drawing Ideas
9 Easy Procreate Drawing Ideas

Add a new layer below the glass layer.

9 Easy Procreate Drawing Ideas

Add an orange oval and fill it in. Then color the lower bottom half of the glass orange.

9 Easy Procreate Drawing Ideas

Now with a darker shade of orange cover the oval surface of the juice for a nice shaded effect. Go back to the glass layer and color the top half with the same light grey as the rest of the glass.

9 Easy Procreate Drawing Ideas
9 Easy Procreate Drawing Ideas

Add a straw then fill it in with this shade of blue.

9 Easy Procreate Drawing Ideas

Add a new layer. And color the part inside the glass with this darker shade of blue.

9 Easy Procreate Drawing Ideas
9 Easy Procreate Drawing Ideas

Add a ring of darker grey to the top of the glass for definition.

9 Easy Procreate Drawing Ideas

And that is pretty much it! All that is left to do is add a highlight to the side and top of the glass using a thin pencil brush (in our case the thin Pencil Liner) in white.

9 Easy Procreate Drawing Ideas

Look at that! How cute!

9 Easy Procreate Drawing Ideas

And for an extra finishing touch we thought we would write the name of everything and move the drawings around until they look right!

9 Easy Procreate Drawing Ideas

And that is pretty much it for this tutorial! We hope you found it cute and helpful! See you in the next post! ^_^
